Maggie Dusoir – Principal

Qualified Primary Teacher with a passion for the Arts

Growing up I was fortunate to begin dance lessons at the age of 6. The thrill of life on the stage led me to pursue further opportunities involving musical theatre, singing and drama. My passion for performing arts continued into my teenage years when I joined the Nottingham Education Theatre Company where I had many opportunities to nurture my passion in a fun, safe and inspiring environment. Desperate to continue doing what I loved, but also work with children, becoming a primary school teacher was the obvious profession for me. In my first year, I quickly established an after school theatre club and directed several musicals. Within the classroom, I would take every opportunity to incorporate drama or singing and very soon realised how vitally important these skills were in developing confident children with high standards of oracy. 

Anybody who has ever experienced the buzz of life in the performing arts will understand that it never really leaves you. I now have two children of my own, aged 9 and 7, and I have always encouraged them to have the confidence to speak out and be the best that they can be in every situation. This year marks my 19th year as a teacher, a profession I have wholeheartedly loved; however, seeing the pressures young people are facing and the effects on their mental health and well-being, I felt driven to use my experience to inspire and nurture the next generation through the power of performing arts.

Singing Tutor- Ro Jordan

BTEC Extended Diploma Performing Arts, Major Drama

‘Ro has an Extended Diploma, Grade Distinction in the Dramatic Arts and has always had a passion for theatricality. From being an alumni of Italia Conti, Ro went on to work as a Senior Music Producer and singer/session musician at Fiction Studios, and as an Artist/Songwriter for Soho Sonic Studios. Ro holds the creative capabilities and experimental musicianship, to teach students experienced technique and to help them gain their confidence as a performer. Ms. Jordan has worked as an artist/musician, releasing her own music which has been featured on multiple international radio shows, such as BBC Radio and Radio Wigwam, including receiving an award for Track of the Week and Best Urban R&B Artist. Ro has also been a featured artist performer for Radio Stations such as Gem 106, in which she performed in front of 15,000 people, as well as being a BBC Introducing Artist who was invited to perform at De Montfort Hall. She was named one of the Top 10 artists for BBC Radio of 2020, alongside Mahalia, Easy Life and many more. Ro also has experience in teaching guitar to beginners as well as piano.’

Drama Tutor- Tasha Plummer

First-class Honours degree in Performing Arts

Tasha has had a passion for performing arts since a very young age and began training at PQA Leicester at age 12. In 2020, she graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with a first-class honours degree in Performing Arts. During her training, Tasha gained a wide range of experiences both on stage and screen with her training credits including Soloist in The Last Ten Years, Pauline Gower in Into the Blue and Tilly in The Waterbabies. In 2018, she worked with Leicester City Council and LLR Safeguarding Children Partnerships as the featured monologist in How Will You hear Me? – Jenny’s Story, an educational short film based on an individual’s real experiences. 

Her other theatre credits include Blousey and Tallulah in Bugsy Malone, Nancy in Oliver, Ensemble in Miscast – All Inclusive, Penny in Hairspray, Phyllis in 42nd Street, Charity (Reno’s Angel) in Anything Goes, Kayleigh in Threads and Angel Applewood in PQA’s The Lazy Ace that was performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London.  

Her time at university expanded Tasha’s love for the arts and inspired her to pass this passion on to younger students, helping them to build their own confidence and skills. On returning to Leicester after university, Tasha returned to PQA as an assistant and as Musical Theatre, and Comedy and Drama cover teacher. She also has experiences with them as both assistant director and choreographer in their musical productions. Tasha also enjoys the educational aspect of the arts and understands how helpful performance confidence and skills can be in learning and understanding mainstream subjects. Tasha also worked as an entertainer for Twycross zoo where she performed as part of their daily educational shows and entertained the children as the Gruffalo. She also works as a performer for Twinlakes Park where she has played various different characters during their themed weeks including pirates, dinosaur trainers and superheroes.

Musical Theatre Tutor- Rebecca McLeish

Advanced qualifications in Acting, Singing, Dance and Musical Theatre

Rebecca has Grade 8 and Advanced qualifications in Acting, Singing, Dance and Musical Theatre, with a particular passion for tap dancing and jazz singing! With 7 years of experience teaching children from ages 2-18, she has developed a wide range of skills to help her students progress and succeed in the performing arts industry. She has worked as an actor in several BBC and ITV productions, including, The Worst Witch, The War of The Worlds and Deep Water, as well as writing her own films that have been featured at film festivals across the UK. Rebecca has performed in numerous stage productions and has been granted scholarships from theatre and dance companies nationwide allowing her to further her training and teaching credentials. Rebecca also enjoys working as a professional princess, entertaining children as different characters and she sings with a Big Band at balls and charity events. Rebecca has a passion for education and believes it is vital to understand the background of the arts as well as learning the skills, and she regularly shares this knowledge with college and university students to give them an even greater appreciation of Musical Theatre. Rebecca is currently studying Law at the University of Leicester and has a deep appreciation how the skills learnt in the arts are transferable in  any career and so valuable to children’s confidence, social skills and mental health.
