You asked and we listened, and now we are really excited to be able to announce the dates, times and venues for our Summer Holiday Workshops!

This is great news! When are they being held?

Monday 19th August in Trawden from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Open to ages 5 to 9.

Tuesday 20th August in Ilkley from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Open to ages 5 to 9.

Wednesday 21st August in Skipton from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Open to ages 10 to 16.

NB: Booking has now closed for the Workshops on 5th, 6th and 8th August.

Where will the Workshops be taking place?

We are pleased to be partnering with our regular weekly lesson hosts:

Trawden Forest Community Centre (Main Hall), Church Street, Trawden, (near Colne), BB8 8RZ
Clarke Foley Community Centre (Jack Lofthouse Annexe), Cunliffe Road, Ilkley, LS29 9DZ
Skipton Town Hall (Education Room), High Street, Skipton, BD23 1AH.

What will a Workshop involve?

Each of our Workshops will follow a theme (see below) and the children will have the opportunity to work with scripts to put together scenes from the musical, learn songs from the musical to perform, enjoy craft activities linked to the theme of the musical and make new friends in a fun, inclusive and creative environment. Perhaps you can use the time to catch up on those jobs, meet with a friend, have some pamper time or some retail therapy – all whilst safe in the knowledge that your children will be safe and having an amazing (screen free!) time with others of their age.

What are the Workshop themes?

Our 5-9 year old children can enjoy an afternoon of musical and creative adventure ‘Inspired by The Lion King of the Jungle Book’. Our 10-16 year olds are promised a Wicked time as we will be ‘Inspired by The Wicked Wizard of Oz’, exploring and performing songs, scenes and characters from two iconic musicals.

Why are the Workshops age limited?

As you can imagine, children’s interests vary so widely, that what can sound appealing to a 5 year old may not have the same draw for a 12 year old. By setting an age guide on our Workshops we can ensure that the content is carefully planned to match the interests and skills levels of all the children who attend.

Does my child have to attend Little Voices regularly in order to attend the Workshops?

Absolutely not! We welcome all children within the age guide for each workshop and subject to spaces still being available. So, maybe your child comes to lessons regularly and just can’t get enough of the performing arts, came to a free trial lesson and couldn’t commit to regular lessons, used to come to lessons but had to step away for other commitments and wants to be involved as a one-off, or has never been to Little Voices at all but likes the sound of what we are offering. Whatever category they are in, they are welcome – just contact us via the enquiry form 🙂

How much will the Workshops be?

Each Workshop is £30 per child. There is a sibling discount of 10% off the total price if bringing two or more children from the same family to the same Workshop. Payment in full will be due via BACS within three days of making your booking to secure your space.

What if I book and pay for a space but our plans change and we can’t use the place?

We get it – sometimes plans change beyond our control. Get in touch with us; we can have a chat about your circumstances, and take it from there.

Can I pay cash on the day?

Unfortunately not – we are only able to accept advance payment online via BACS.

What will my child need to bring?

Bags of energy and enthusiasm! It is recommended that they wear loose, comfortable clothing and trainers, so that they can get stuck into all of our singing and acting (and it won’t matter if a splash of glue goes astray when they’re crafting) a drink of water and a nut free snack.

Will we be able to see what the children have been learning during their time with you?

Of course – there will be ‘time to shine’ at the end of every Workshop where parents/carers are very welcome to arrive a few minutes before the end to see and hear what the children have been working on. More details on the day 🙂

Who will be leading the Workshops, and what checks have been put in place?

Every Workshop will be led by one of the team – either Principal Becky, or one of our senior Tutors. In addition, there will be a further two members of the team at every Workshop. There will be a trained First Aider on duty at every Workshop – usually one of the LV team, or a member of the staff at the venue. Our venues have been risk-assessed against the activities we have planned and we are all aware of the fire procedures. Every member of staff has a clear Enhanced DBS check,  satisfactory references (actually glowing) that have been verified, and, most importantly, a passion and flair for the performing arts and a talent for sharing these with children and young people.

This all sounds brilliant and I want to sign my child up to ensure we don’t miss out on a place. How do I do this?
