Hi, My name is Rachel and I have been Principal of Little Voices in Preston, Leyland and Chorley for 6 years. I LOVE what I do! I love teaching children and I love all that Little Voices stands for, so buying a Little Voices franchise was not a hard decision!
I have been teaching for 20 years and still work at a local independent school, where we also teach Little Voices lessons! My degree and background is actually in Sociology and Psychology (although people always think it is in performing arts – think its because I am very dramatic!) but the Head of Drama at the school where I work, quite a few years ago, asked me if I would train and start teaching LAMDA as they needed some help and she knew I also loved the Theatre and had a musical background. So I did, and started teaching LAMDA alongside my A level teaching. I soon realised I loved it! It didn’t take me long to realise that I wanted to continue teaching Musical Theatre / Performance and within a few months I found myself buying Little Voices Preston and never looking back.
It is hard to believe that that was 6 years ago. So much has happened in that time. We have lots of amazing pupils, have had fantastic LAMDA examination success (100% pass rate) big showcase events on huge stages, worked with lots of local schools, about to open our own Little Voices studio. But we also have lots of pupils who have their own success, those who have gone on to Drama School, West End success, those who have been more confident in lessons at school, gained the courage to talk to more people in social situations. All of these events make me so proud!
Our next chapter is so exciting. We are due to open our Little Voices studio this September. This will be our own little happy place for our pupils to continue to make memories, to learn new skills and develop in confidence. I can’t wait to see where this new academic year takes us! I know it will be amazing!
